Forest Warden notes
Apr. 1st, 2019 12:12 pmSpecies: Forest Warden
A supernatural race, they inhabit old woodlands and forests where they oversee the health of the local ecosystem and balance of earthly and unearthly forces. They live in hidden, closely guarded communities and are very wary of outsiders.
Due to their supernatural nature, it is possible to summon them through the use of magic circles or similar means. However as they are not demons, Wardens can choose whether or not they appear to whoever is calling. There have been tenuous alliances between Forest Wardens and supernaturally aware humans in the past, however Wardens typically view humans with disdain for believing they are outside the natural order.
Abilities:
Forest Wardens have amorphous properties, they are capable of contorting their bodies into unnatural positions. They are also capable of low grade shape shifting, however this is limited to their size and general shape. They cannot disguise themselves as other people or creatures. They have bioluminescent patterns covering their bodies, colours and tones being unique to individual wardens. They are capable of magic, often causing supernatural fog or mist to appear wherever they travel.
Dimorphism: None
Lifespan: 3-4 centuries is common
Average Size:
Forest Wardens don’t really stop growing, though they slow down significantly once they reach maturity. The average size of a Warden above the age of 300 is 11 feet tall.
Diet:
Omnivorous with preference for fungi. If they eat meat they consume the entire carcass, including the bones. Nothing is wasted. It’s thought some human disappearances in forests can be attributed to Forest Wardens
